KIRÇIL KILIMS COLLECTION | 2014

For the first time in Italy, one of the most important collections of 20th century Kirçil Kilims.

Immense, precious and majestic monochromes. Greys vanishing into black, into red and into gold. Goat wool and cotton: artefacts that are incredibly robust, elegant and essential.
The Kirçil Kilims were used for drying fruit and cereals and preserving them for the winter months.
They were humble but truly precious textiles essential for daily life, intersected by coloured threads or small embroideries that ensured totemic protection.
The mixture of two such different materials in an extremely fine weave, soft hand-twisted cotton and the rough, indestructible goat wool, created a hypnotic effect of thousands of shades that give these antique kilims an unequalled elegance and modernity.
