BENI OUARAIN

Middle Altas, Morocco | Wool | Early 20th Century

Natural colours and abstract drawings, their origin lost in time. From the cold mountains of the Middle Atlas, the cradle of these Berber tribes, came incredibly bright, soft and exquisite wools. These were woven in their natural colours, according to ancient patterns, each time freely interpreted by the weaver’s inspiration and needs. Such freedom gave birth to unique, abstract designs, which today look stunningly contemporary.
